I Am the Expert of Me

And you are the expert of you. So now, please, kindly, just stop: finger-pointing, blaming, shaming, and pretending you are the expert of me. None of us have ever experienced what we are going through right now. But we are all trying like hell to figure it out.

No one “out there” is stupid. I’m not. You’re not. They/We are afraid, scared to death actually. I know that I have never met any of the people who are being shamed for buying toilet paper. I don’t think you have either. We have no idea why they are buying so much, but uh, we think we do, right?

We are blaming the media for the hysteria, because we just gotta blame someone. But guess what? Every single time you share one of those fear-based, finger-pointing posts, you just became part of the media. Before you hit the share button, sit back and breathe for a minute, until it finally sinks in that you, lovely you, must now share the blame in spreading fear.

Carl Jung has said: “Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.”

Maybe it’s a good time to take a look at the quote. I pay a lot of attention to my unconscious and I have for years because I’m nosey like that. I also wanted to delve into what makes me tick. Man, was I surprised at the underground noise. We all have it, and most of us don’t even know it.

In the past it has taken a long time of in-depth study, or years of counseling to fully understand where we are coming from. Here’s some good news, and it’s all because of the corona virus: you can actually begin to quickly experience what’s going on underneath by just stepping back for a moment, and see how you feel. Are you mad at the toilet paper people? Probably not, as you don’t even know them. Are you angry with those you think are policing social distancing? Again, you don’t really know them and how in the world can they be the expert of you. How does it really feel to hit that share button? Now, all you have to do is just notice it. Often,  just noticing things will fix them. Gently, lay your finger down, and maybe softly stroke it and say: oh beloved pointer, you are my moon and stars. Perhaps you could go to Youtube, bring up Dance Me To the End of Love by Leonard Cohen, and enjoy a delicious few moments with your cherished digit.

Everyone has their own way of getting themselves to their happy place and I have no idea what you need to do, because I am not the expert of you. But you inherently know. We all do. My latest is what my son calls my “ear crack”. I did not realize until a couple of weeks ago that I had earbuds for my iPhone. Holy shit! I now walk a couple of hours a day listening to music in an entirely new, and deliriously magical realm. Sometimes I feel like grabbing people and dancing with them in the streets. Uh oh, stay 6 feet away. Again, use your own intuition to do what is right for you. You are the expert. Being kind to yourself in this way, naturally emanates out into the world.

Possibly, it may now be safe to lovingly pick up your finger again, and share this post. We all need all the help we can get. I know I do.

When you are talking to Sparkle, miracles happen. Her erudite and profound way of getting to the bottom of what it is we are believing is second to none. I've watched as Sparkle listens to someone and finds a way of getting exactly to where that person needs to see from, just by being her wonderful and intuitive self. Her name fits her perfectly, this sparkling ray of light has blessed so many with her humorous musings, which hide profound trusts, all wrapped up in a giggle or three. Sparkle is simply love on legs. Time spent in the company of this gorgeous soul can only bring more joy into anyone's life.

The thing that differentiates you (Sally) from others, is that you do not go out to people with an agenda, but with unconditional love. I still cannot describe the state I was in when you visited Switzerland. I felt as if I were in a state of flow and blissful happiness. I want to learn from you how one can live like this every day.
