Beloved Sparkle

Our Beloved Sparkle died this morning, the first day of summer. After many weeks of rain, today the weather is perfect. Sunny, light breeze, no humidity…a breath of fresh air, just like Sparkle. And with her, when she exited was the most magnificent lover and companion that you could ever dream of. For those of you who do not know her husband, Chet, allow me to introduce him. He was the immense ball of strength, quietly and unconditionally loving her as she soared to many heights (and sometimes crashing to horrific lows), unleashing her loving healing on everyone she came in contact with. And there were a lot A LOT of us. Did he realize when he met her that she would introduce him to unimaginable adventures that seemed out of this world? Probably. And he stuck around. Good job, Chet! We are all immensely grateful to you.

As she had come back from the brink of death so many times, I really thought she would rally once again. I am shocked and I am sad, but greatly honored to have spent some years with that beautiful sprite. I last spoke with her and Chet on Monday. On Sunday, she was taken by ambulance to a hospice center, due to pain. When she called, she sounded strong and greeted me with a hearty “Hello!”. She even managed to talk to Max (my son) for a moment. I had decided that I would go and visit her tomorrow, Saturday. (I live in Pittsburgh, she lives in Baltimore.) On Wednesday evening I heard from a friend who said that Sparkle was leaving quickly, but I really thought I would see her again. Instead, tomorrow I will go and sit and appreciate the shit out of Chet for also being in my life, and everything he has done to make sure Sparkle was always with us.

The following is an excerpt from a reading Leni received from Sparkle, just a few hours ago:

“I asked her why her soul made the choice to leave and she says that her body was just tired and couldn’t handle the stresses anymore. Her soul (this is the part of you who makes the ultimate choices for you) made an executive decision to leave. It said “too much pain, time to go.”

“She was an Angel incarnate. As far as appearance now, she looks to be in her early 30’s. She has a lot of jewelry on, just as she did in this lifetime. She is thin, and tall! And she wants to point out her voluminous and silky hair. (She always hated her hair, while here.) She says she loves everyone and is SO thankful for all of the love and support that everyone gave her over the past few years.”

Goodbye buddy. I still remember the first time I heard your voice several years ago and thought: Who is this? I have to meet her! And we did, and I am so honored to have had you in my life as we designed our own crazy adventures that allowed our compassion for each other, and the world, to emerge. I am a better person, and you know how much I love and adore you…always.

When you are talking to Sparkle, miracles happen. Her erudite and profound way of getting to the bottom of what it is we are believing is second to none. I've watched as Sparkle listens to someone and finds a way of getting exactly to where that person needs to see from, just by being her wonderful and intuitive self. Her name fits her perfectly, this sparkling ray of light has blessed so many with her humorous musings, which hide profound trusts, all wrapped up in a giggle or three. Sparkle is simply love on legs. Time spent in the company of this gorgeous soul can only bring more joy into anyone's life.

The thing that differentiates you (Sally) from others, is that you do not go out to people with an agenda, but with unconditional love. I still cannot describe the state I was in when you visited Switzerland. I felt as if I were in a state of flow and blissful happiness. I want to learn from you how one can live like this every day.
